Rune 2 system requirements revealed
By Jon Sutton on June 8th, 2019 at 04:28pm - original article from game-debate

I'm going to just have to hold my hands up and admit - I've never heard of Rune. It's a hole in my gaming know how but it's a hole alright. It turns out Rune was one of the earliest games from Human Head Studios, developer of the original Prey as well as lending a hand with BioShock Infinite. A Viking-themed action adventure game, it came out in 2000. 19 years later, it's back. Rune II is a Norse adventure through Midgard as players, either alone or co-operatively, work to take down Loki and prevent Ragnarok.

It all looks very nifty in the early screenshots, that's for sure, so Rune 2 could be one to keep an eye on when it comes to the Epic Store later this year. In the meantime, here are the PC system requirements needed to run Rune II.

Rune II Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4340 3.6 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 25GB Available Hard Drive Space

Rune II Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 25GB Available Hard Drive Space

Being brutally honest, Rune 2 isn't exactly in the top tier of games visually. It looks good enough but it's not going to find a home in the Louvre. With that in mind, the system specs for Rune II demonstrate a game that's a tier below the demands of the AAA behemoths.

That's not to say that it's going to be a slouch to run though, as you'll still need a fairly decent mid-tier system from the last four or so years in order to get it up and running.

Down at the minimum specs for Rune 2, a DX11 video card with 2GB VRAM and performance on pair with a GTX 760 is touted as the absolute minimum. This will need to be paired up with a fairly solid dual-core processor. Anything in the Core i3-3000 or FX-6000 ranges should just about do it.

If you want to crank the graphics sliders up to the top at 1080p, you'll need an appropriate increase in hardware. A quad-core CPU will benefit high frame rates, alongside a video card with at least 4GB VRAM.
