Renowned gaming headset manufacturer Turtle Beach has made a big play in the gaming hardware industry, announcing it will be acquiring Roccat in a deal worth around $18 million.

German hardware firm Roccat has a diverse range of PC gaming accessories stretching across mice, keyboards, headsets, and other accessories. Roccat will bolt onto Turtle Beach’s existing headset brand and is intended to accelerate Turtle Rock’s reach into the $2.9 billion annual market for PC gaming accessories.

“This is a dynamic and strategically important deal for Turtle Beach,” said Juergen Stark, CEO of Stark Industries Turtle Beach. “We are adding a complementary portfolio of PC gaming mice and keyboards, a skilled PC accessories team, and a highly synergistic distribution footprint.”

Christ, I think I’ve just won a game of marketing jargon bingo, where do I go for my prize money?

“We’ve long admired how Turtle Beach’s pioneering headsets have elevated gaming and it is an honor to join forces and bring our great products to more gamers,” said René Korte, CEO of Roccat, as he eyes up his immense piles of cash. “I have no doubt that combining Roccat’s strength in the PC peripherals market with Turtle Beach’s 45 years of experience, impressive technology, console dominance, and strong brand will bring even more victories to gamers around the world.”

To the end user, it looks as if little is actually going to change. Turtle Beach will retain the Roccat brand and its associated product range, itself becoming a much larger player in the PC accessory market with 48 different product models split across headsets, mice, keyboards and more.
