Just Cause 4 PC System Requirements Revealed
By Jon Sutton on November 2nd, 2018 at 02:04pm - original article from game-debate

UPDATE: The 4K system requirements for Just Cause 4 have also now been released. Playing Just Cause 4 at 4K screen resolution will naturally require a top-end gaming PC. For the sake of simplicity we've added the Just Cause 4 4K system specs to the original article below.

Original Story - 31-Oct-2018 - Just Cause 4 PC System Requirements Revealed

Rico Rodriguez is back for Just Cause 4, but this time he'll be fighting extreme weather systems alongside the usual rogue's gallery of grunts. Set on the fictional island of Solis, in South America, Just Cause 4 features a massive 1024 squad kilometre map with rainforests, deserts, and snowy mountains. Just Cause 4 is also the first game in the Just Cause series to move to Avalanche's new Apex game engine to allow for physics-based weather effects such as tornadoes and sandstorms. But what does this mean for Just Cause 4's system specs? Here are the official Just Cause 4 system requirements.

Just Cause 4 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R9 270
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 59 GB Available Hard Drive Space

Just Cause 4 Recommended System Requirements

  • GPU RAM: 6 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
  • DX: DirectX 12

Just Cause 4 4K System Requirements

Just Cause 3 was a bit of a nightmare when it came to performance optimisation but we're hopeful a new engine and a fresh start can ensure Just Cause 4 doesn't run into the same issues.

That said, the minimum system requirements for JC4 aren't actually all that different to Just Cause 3. A fairly low-end video card from the last four years or so should do the trick. Avalanche suggests either a GeForce GTX 760 or a Radeon R9 270 with at least 2GB VRAM. This will likely be enough to run Just Cause 4 at low graphics settings at 720p. A low-end CPU could potentially be a bottleneck in JC4 though, so a quad-core processor is required as a minimum.

There is then an absolutely massive jump from the minimum system requirements for Just Cause 4 to the recommended specs for Just Cause 4. A top GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 with at least 6GB video memory is required to play Just Cause 4 at very high graphics settings. Recommended requirements typically refer to 1080p unless specified as well, so anyone hoping to play Just Cause 4 at 4K/Ultra will require one of the fastest graphics cards on the market, such as the GeForce RTX 20 Series.

System requirements for Just Cause 4 also confirm DirectX 12 support. This will require you to have Windows 10 installed. Visually though, JC4 should look identical whether it's running on DX11 or DX12.

And lastly, we have the 4K system requirements for Just Cause 4, which requires nearly the absolute best of the best of PC gaming hardware. Playing at 4K resolution will primarily rely on your GPU, and so a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or equivalent is required. Any of Nvidia's new RTX 20 Series should be able to handle Just Cause 4 at 4K just fine as well, although a few settings may need to be dialed down on the GeForce RTX 2070. Unfortunately, outside of going the unreliable CrossFire route, AMD doesn't currently have a 4K solution for Just Cause 4.
