Nvidia has promised some “spectacular surprises” during a live event that’s set to take place on August 20th, during the run-up to Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany. It’s looking increasingly likely this event is going to play host to the official reveal of the next-generation GeForce GTX 11 Series graphics cards.
Gamescom itself is going to run from August 21-25, and Nvidia is promising that GeForce will have a big presence on the show floor. “The event will be loaded with new, exclusive, hands-on demos of the hottest upcoming games, stage presentations from the world’s biggest game developers, and some spectacular surprises,” says Nvidia.
Put two and two together and it sounds as if we’re going to seeing the official unveiling of the GeForce GTX 1180 and GeForce GTX 1170 in just two weeks time. They will be using the first new gaming-focused GPU architecture since 2016’s Pascal, rumoured to be codenamed Turing. With fans waiting over two years for new graphics cards from Nvidia, we’re expecting an impressive leap in performance.
Nvidia’s special Gamescom event will be taking place over two days, although it looks as if the big announcements will predominantly be focused on the first day. Day one takes place on Monday, August 20th from 6pm-Midnight CET, while the second day runs on Tuesday, August 21st from 10am-5pm CET.
As to where you can watch the event, Nvidia is keeping it under wraps for now. As always though, Nvidia's official GeForce Twitch channel is usually the best place to go to watch the live events unfold.
Whatever happens, we’ll be sure to bring you all the biggest announcements from on the show floor once the event rolls around.
