Steel Division: Normandy 44's System Requirements Have Been Deployed
By Jon Sutton on March 16th, 2017 at 05:12pm - original article from game-debate

Publishers these days seem to be loving quick release cycles. Steel Division: Normandy 44, the latest real-time strategy game from the gurus at Eugen Systems (Wargames), was announced a fortnight ago and it's out in May. Eugen's trademark unit variety means it could quickly become the WW2 connoisseurs RTS of choice. There are literally hundreds of unique units to choose from throughout a sprawling campaign or 10 v 10 multiplayer battles. Steel Division promises to be a strategy epic in every sense of the word, but does it have epic PC system requirements to match? Let's find out.

Steel Division: Normandy 44 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-4100 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 3 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 or AMD Radeon HD 5570 1GB
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 32 GB available space

Steel Division: Normandy 44 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz or AMD FX-8120 3.1 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon HD 7970
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 32 GB available space

I suspect the major jumping off point for most Steel Division players will be Eugen Systems previous games. Steel Division: Normandy 44 is, to all intents and purposes, a World War 2 version of its Wargame series. The last of these was 2014's Wargame: Red Dragon. Visually it doesn't look that much different to Steel Division, however the system requirements for Steel Division: Normandy 44 are dramatically higher. Fortunately PC gaming hardware has advanced at a great rate these past 3 or 4 years, so what would have been extremely demanding is now simple to run.

You'll see the bare minimum you need is basically any DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB VRAM, paired with a 3 GHz dual-core processor. This is some ancient hardware, ensuring Steel Division: Normandy 44 should at least work on just about any PC with a dedicated GPU.

Recommended specs for Steel Division aren't really a huge issue either. Even modern budget cards like the GeForce GTX 1050 or the Radeon RX 460 should be capable of meeting these performance demands. The quad-core CPUs may be a minor stumbling block but if you do experience stuttering or frame rate drops in Steel Division then simply lower the level of detail.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Steel Division: Normandy 44 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.
