Kalypso Media has released the official system requirements for Tropico 5, so those of you wanting to step back into the shoes of El Presidente can check whether your rig will allow you to.
Tropico 5 has marked itself out from previous titles with its new time-travelling mechanic, but you probably won’t need a time machine to get yourself a rig capable of running this island sim. You can check out the full official Tropico 5 system requirements below…
Tropico 5 Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista
CPU: 2 GHz Dual Core CPU
RAM: 4 GB RAM
HD: 4 GB
GPU: GeForce 400 or higher, AMD Radeon HD 4000 or higher, Intel HD 4000 or higher
Tropico 5 System Requirements
OS: Windows 7/ 8
CPU: 2.5 GHz Quad Core CPU
RAM: 8 GB RAM
HD: 4 GB
GPU: GeForce 500 or higher, AMD Radeon HD 5000 or higher
There’s nothing too alarming about these requirements, and most people should be able to get this going on minimum at least with fairly low-spec hardware.
Tropico 5 will require a DX 11 compatible GPU to run, although neither the minimum nor the recommended required card should be particularly demanding; a GeForce 400 card as minimum and GeForce 500 as recommended.
The CPU requirements are a tad more demanding than those graphics requirements, but you still only need a dual-core processor with a 2GHz clock speed to run the game on minimum, along with 4GB of RAM. Maxing out the title may be a little trickier for some, since according to these released system requirements you will need a fairly hefty 8GB RAM along with a quad-core processor to get those pretty Caribbean beaches and palm trees looking slick on max settings.
Tropico 5 is available for PC from the 23rd May.
