Nvidia Ends Driver Support For DirectX 10 Legacy GPUs
By Jon Sutton on March 14th, 2014 at 11:46am - original article from game-debate

Nvidia has announced that it will be ceasing driver support for a number of its DirectX 10 legacy cards, with immediate effect. A number of classic cards and GD favourites are among the dozens of cards getting the chop when it comes to driver support.

There will continue to be bugfixes for these cards and the Release 340 drivers up to April 1 2016, but any future driver enhancements and optimisations to drivers and upcoming games will not be supported in any of these products, which includes the popular GeForce 8000 and 9000 series, as well as the 100, 200, 300 and 400 desktop GPU familes…

All future efforts from Nvidia will instead be focused on supporting its DirectX 11 family of cards, comprising the compatible Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell architecture. Any owners of these cards will be stuck with an outdated version of the Nvidia drivers, so now's as good a time as any to splash some cash on that upgrade you've been dreaming of.

So, quite a few Nvidia graphics cards been affected by this dropping of support, including the ever-popular Nvidia 8800GT. Any of you GDers still sporting any of these GPUs?

Thinking about an upgrade now?

Let us know!

Cheers Milaor270 for the heads up!
